Independent Hospital Services
We continue to provide an ongoing advocacy service for independent hospitals. These units are visited on a regular basis by named advocates; to ensure that the clients living in these services have access to advocacy should they want or need it.
Our clients at these hospitals have Learning disabilities or Aspergers Syndrome combined with mental health issues and many are detained under the mental health act.
We currently provide advocacy for four hospitals run by Craegmoor Healthcare; including three units at Cefn Carnau, a unit at Caerlan, a unit at Newhouse and a unit at Longhouse.
We also provide a male and a female advocate to the Pine tree Court hospital in Cardiff, run by Ludlow street healthcare.
The advocates continue to fulfill a vital role at these hospitals. They continue to support people to
- speak up for what they want.
- consider their options and make their own choices.
- find the information that they need.
- Understand their rights (especially with regard to the mental health act)
They support people to speak up on an individual basis and ensure that they are listened to and respected.
