Casework Advocacy
Our casework advocates are employed by advocacy matters wales to work with an adult with a learning disability on a short term basis. They will support that person to address a particular problem, until the issue has been resolved.

The advocate can work alongside the person on any issue, big or small! Some common examples are issues around:
- Accommodation; Moving house, Compatibility with co-tenant/s, Homelessness.
- Support; Social worker provision and Unified Assessments, Support or Care provision.
- Finances; Benefits, debt, finance management.
- The Law; Wills, trusts and/or funeral plans, compensation claims.
We have also worked with parents who have a learning disability who are currently going through childcare proceedings
A casework advocate can help a person with a learning disability to speak up for themselves.
A casework advocate can help a person with a learning disability look at the choices and options available to them.
A casework advocate will not tell a person with a learning disability what is best for them, or choose for them.
A casework advocate will not take any body elses side.
A casework advocate will always be on the side of the person with a learning disability.
A casework advocate can help a person with a learning disability find and understand information.
A casework advocate can help a person with a learning disability understand their rights.
A Casework Advocate might not be able to help the person solve everything,
but they will try and help you as much as possible.
They will make sure that the person is
listened to and respected by the people around them.
When the issue has been resolved the Casework Advocate will finish working with person and they will say goodbye.If there is another issue, the person can always ask for another advocate.
